Air Deccan (Now Kingfisher Red)

Air Deccan Airline was the first low cost carrier in India, leading to a revolution in the air travel market of the country. It was founded on 25 August 2003 with a regular scheduled flight from Bangalore to Mangalore and Hubli. A month after the initiation of its services, it opened a second hub at Chennai, and now plans to establish a grand aircraft maintenance facility at Chennai International Airport.

It was the foremost airline in India to procure an Airbus fleet of 5 Airbus A320s in July 2004. This was another landmark in the Indian aviation industry to create associations with a leading European aircraft manufacturer. With the growth of the Indian aviation market and expansion of the consumer base in India, Air Deccan flights have also grown manifold. With the initiation of its operations, many other low cost carriers came into the industry that resulted in increased competition in the aviation market.

In October 2007, Kingfisher took over Air Deccan and named it just Deccan and in August 2008 it was finally named Kingfisher Red, headquartered in Bangalore.

Air Deccan Services: Air Deccan has always been known to serve the corporate sector, medical industry, tourism segment with its speedy and reliable helicopter transportation and transit & logistic support at locations off the shore. Not just this, Air Deccan was the first airline in the country to provide air transportation services to connect the metropolitans like Mumbai, Chennai, and Delhi etc to the second rung cities like Madurai, Coimbatore, Hubli and Visakhapatnam.

Hence it has to constantly maintain its standards and quality of services together with low airfares to stay in the market. This no frill airline created history by launching Rs. 3 plus taxes ticket for travelling by air in year 2006. Deccan airfares are less like other low cost carriers in the country and hence are very affordable.

Air Deccan Fleet: Its fleet of around 66 aircrafts includes A320-200 Airbus, ATR 42-320, ATR 72-212 A and ATR 42-500 civil aircrafts.
