At present, there are nine international airlines that operate from the Amritsar Airport. Other than this, there are nearly 90 commercial flights handled by the airport. This list also includes domestic and international flights. Amritsar Airport got a make-over and now flaunts newly finished Arrivals Terminal and Departures Terminal. The newly designed terminals exhibit a merger of modern and Indian traditional designs. The terminals are made of glass and steel. The renovated terminal building of the airport was inaugurated on February 25, 2009. Some of the facilities that the airport is about to provide, include a brand new cargo handling facility, four new aerobridges, a new car parking facility for both passengers and visitors. In addition to this, the airport plans to increase its runway from 369 meters to a total length of 3,658 meters. The passenger terminal building size will also be doubled. Parking bays will be increased from the present 5 to 14.
