Plans are being made to include additional terminals at the Pune International Airport. This is due to the reason that the current terminal can handle only 550 passengers at a time. Once the new terminals get constructed, the capacity of the airport will get enhanced. It will also be able to handle as much as 1200 passengers at a time.

Pune International Airport stands at a distance of 10 km from the Pune city centre. Spread over an area of 14.36 acres, the airport is quite spacious. Airports located near the Pune airport are Mumbai airport (199 km), Aurangabad Airport (240 km) and Kolhapur Airport (260 km).
How to Reach Pune Airport
To reach Pune Airport, you can board the city buses that regularly operate to and from Pune airport. These buses are a cheap means of travel but do remember they take much time that other means like taxis and auto-rickshaws. It is advisable that all travelers reach the international terminal at least 3 hours prior to the flight timings.
New Pune International Airport plans:
Maharashtra Government has decided to give the airport’s renovation work to Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC). The all new Pune International Airport will act as a gateway to the Western Maharashtra. The agricultural and floricultural export industries present near the airport area will get a boost during the renovation of the airport. The airport is expected to be extended over an area of 24.28 hectares. It will be counted among the largest airports in India once the upgrading work is completed and it will have two runways and will get more international flights once the project is completed.
