One of the major cities
of the north-eastern state of Nagaland, Dimapur is now
one of the main transit points for travelers and passengers
going to Kohima, a district bordering it on the south
and east. One of the important rail head in the north-eastern
region, Dimapur has its tourist attractions in the ruins
of the Kachari Kingdom and Chumukedima, the once headquarter
of the Naga Hills district of Assam. Dimapur has the only
airport of the state.
Hotels in Dimapur mainly cater to the travelers passing
to Kohima. One may not find many foreign tourists here
as it is hard to obtain permit. Therefore, one may feel
a bit out of context amongst the locals in this city.
One can put up at the numerous tourist lodge and circuit
houses. Dimapur hotels are not in plenty if you search
for elegance and style. Tourist lodge near the bus station
and Hotel Avilyn are good choices of budget hotels in
Dimapur. Hotel Tragopan, an old hotel, is obviously the
best in the range of midrange hotels. . There is not much
of top-end accommodation facility available here; although
nearby Kohima has some luxurious staying choices. |
