Diu and Daman are union
territories located south of the state of Gujarat in western
India. Diu had been a Portuguese colony from the 16th
century till 1961, when Indian government wrested power
from the colonies, including Goa. Daman is famous for
the beautiful beaches, churches, Portuguese houses and
the availability of booze from the dry land of Gujarat.
Diu town has a massive fort. One must visit the St Paul's
church built in the 17th century.
