Air Mauritius

Air Mauritius Limited is the national airline of Mauritius. It is based in Port Louis, which is the capital of this island. It provides regional and international services to over 30 destinations with 80 flights per week. Main base of this airline is Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport located in Mauritius. The airline has a fish-eating tropical bird, which is the phaeton rubicola or Paille-en-Queue, as its symbol.

Air Mauritius was set up on 14 June 1967 by Amédée Maingard in the beginning as a handling agent.

It reasonably started airline actions in August 1972 with a six seater Piper PA-31 Navajo aircraft rented from Air Madagascar on a flight from Mauritius to Rodrigues Island. International operations were started in 1977 using a wet rented Boeing 707 from British Airtours.

Air Mauritius provides both regional and international services, connecting over 25 destinations, including Australia. It has a great existence on European, African and Indian Ocean country airports.

The airline also carried out a range of services in Mauritius for international airlines. Air Mauritius offers services to Perth, Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, and presents a great stopover destination for passengers traveling on to Europe.

Air Mauritius present helicopter flights tours ranging in length from 15 minutes to 1 hour, enabling travelers to realize the exquisiteness of the area from the sky.

Air Mauritius Achievements
Air Mauritius holds the merit of being the first southern African country airline that controlled an all-Airbus fleet on long and medium haul routes in March 2007. It also holds the credit of being the first airline to fly an A340 in the Southern atmosphere. The air service serves as the chief player in the field of cargo, resulting in the company’s increased asset in cargo storage facilities.
