Lufthansa is a popular airline in Europe. It is the largest airline in Europe that carries several numbers of passengers. It has the third largest passenger airline fleet in the world and has got many modern aircrafts. This flag carrier of Germany derives its name from the German words 'Luft', which in English means 'air'. The airline has got its main centre located at the Frankfurt Airport in Frankfurt.

Lufthansa is also a founding member of Star Alliance, one among the leading airline alliances in the world. Deutsche Aero Lloyd (DAL) and Junkers Luftverkehr came together in the year 1926 and formed Lufthansa. It is very interesting to know that the name of this airline was always the same and seldom got changed. The airline was actually named 'Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft', later it got named Lufthansa. Before the Second World War, this airline operator surpassed in its business and thereby operated its flight services to the Far East and covered many destinations in North Atlantic and South Atlantic parts, with a fleet of German designed aircrafts including Junkers, Dornier, Heinkel and Focke-Wulf.

Lufthansa got its services affected during the outbreak of Second World War in 1939. It was then that the airline limited its services and operated flights only to some neutral destinations till the aftereffects stopped showing. Lufthansa was banned from flying into East Germany after Germany's defeat in the World War. This was only until the collapse of the communist regime, after which the Airline once again begun its services. Nowadays, airline witnesses more than 45 million passengers taking Lufthansa flights to reach their desired destinations.

Lufthansa Fleet:
Lufthansa Airline keeps up a fleet made of 252 aircrafts, including Embraer E-190, Boeing 747-400Airbus A320-200, Boeing 737-500, Boeing 737-300, Airbus A340-600, Airbus A340-300, Airbus A330-300, Airbus A321-200, Airbus A321-100, and Airbus A319-100.

Lufthansa Destinations:
Currently, Lufthansa Airlines connects to 18 domestic destinations and 185 international destinations across 78 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and America. The airline also connects three other destinations Brazil, Venezuela and Argentina. The airline operator also offers its flight to many cities in USA and Canada. Another destination covered by Lufthansa includes the Mexico City in Mexico. In south Asia, the flight operator offer its services to Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune
