United Airlines

United Airlines is believed to be the oldest commercial airlines of United States. It is a subsidiary of UAL Corporation, which is an airline investment company, and provides air travel in the country. Elk Grove Township is its base. Its major hub is located at O'Hare International Airport, recording the highest departures in a day.

Besides, the other hubs of the airlines are situated at Denver International Airport, San Francisco International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport.

United Airlines mapped out its historical affiliation to Varney Airlines, which was an air mail service started in Boise, Idaho. In 1927, William Boeing set up his own airline, Boeing Air Transport. He also started purchasing other airmail carriers and accomplished as the owner of Varney as well. In 1929, he tailored his company’s name to United Aircraft and Transport Corp. In 1961, United Airlines combined with Capital Airlines, thus becoming the largest commercial airline in the whole world. In 1968, with the restructuring of the company, it became a subsidiary of the UAL.

United Airlines Fleet:
United Airways maintains a fleet of 385 aircrafts including Airbus A319-100, Airbus A320-200, Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-500, Boeing 747-400, Boeing 757-200, Boeing 767-300ER, Boeing 777-200 and Boeing 777-200ER.

United Airlines Destinations:
United Airlines controls a widespread network of 73 domestic and 41 foreign destinations. It connects to France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Belgium, Russia and Switzerland in Europe among the international destinations and covers Japan, China, South Korea, Singapore Thailand and Vietnam Kuwait and UAE in Asia. In Americas, it plies flights to the Caribbean, Central America, Canada, and Mexico, Argentina and Brazil in South America and almost the whole of US.

United Airlines also offers planned flights to Melbourne and Sydney in Australia. Along with that, the air service maintains constant flights to many cities in China, which comprise Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Guangzhou. Presently, it controls codeshare in India, with the other airlines operating in the country. It also holds the merit of being the only US airline that serves Vietnam.

United Airlines Achievements
When it comes to the revenue-passenger-miles United Airways happened to be the second largest airline in the world, till July 31, 2006. It is the only American airline to attain the merit of having managed the Executive One, after it carried an American president, Richard Nixon (to Los Angeles) in 1973. The airline was rated as the 11th among 19 U.S carriers for baggage handling complaints by the passengers, by the U.S Department of Transportation.
