Uzbekistan Airways

Uzbekistan Airways is the national airline of Uzbekistan. The airline was formed after the disintegration of Soviet Union. Since its commencement, the airline has intended to offer outstanding services to its passengers, through its planned flights plying to various destinations in Western Europe and other international locations.

The airline has gone through code-share agreements with Air Baltic (Latvian national airline), Indian Airlines (the national airline of India), Korean Air (largest airline of South Korea) and Malaysian Airlines (flag carrier of Malaysia).

In 1992, the then President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, planned the building of a state airline, which lined the way for the birth of Uzbekistan Airways. The major objective behind the development of Uzbekistan Airways was to construct a modern transport infrastructure for the country as well as generate strong presence in the international civil aviation industry. Uzbekistan Airways wanted to maintain a strong presence in the international aviation industry since its commencement. Its maiden flight was from Tashkent to London. Uzbekistan Airways started its domestic flights using aircraft, which was formerly owned by the largest airline in Russia - Aeroflot. In 1993, Uzbekistan Airways began using Airbus aircrafts for its international routes, when it realized that it has to make its presence evident at the international flight industry.
