Visa Information
Indian national can obtain short stay visa for a period ranging from 1 to 90 days, valid for all countries of the Schengen Territory i.e. Germany, Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), Spain, France, Portugal, Austria, Italy and Greece. The Schengen Convention is a great step towards freedom of circulation of people. Foreigners bearing a valid stay permit delivered by one of the Schengen state can leave and later re-enter the Schengen Territory without having to ask for a visa again, on condition they have a valid passport and relevant travel document. Application for visa have to be submitted with the competent Consular authorities, which are to be determined according to the following criteria:
* If the applicant intends to stay in one country only, application should be submitted at the Representation of the same country.
* If the applicant wishes to travel to several member states, application should be submitted at the Representation of the country where the main purpose of travel lies, determined by the duration of stay.
* If the main destination cannot be ascertained, the competent Consular office for processing the application will be one of the countries of the first port of entry into the Schengen Territory.
* Long term visas are still subjected to the law of the country of the destination. They must be applied for at the Consular Authorities of the concerned member states.

Tourist
Visa is required. One blue form (photocopy allowed) duly filled in and signed by the applicant, one photograph. Applicants for transit visa must have a visa for the country of final destination and if applicable other necessary visa to travel from Federal Republic of Germany. Travellers who do not intend to leave the transit lounge in a German Airport also require transit visa, unless they have a valid visa for one of the EC countries, Canada, Swiss or the USA.
Visa fee is INR 700

Business
Documentation is the same as above. Additional requirements are: a covering letter from the Indian business house promoting travel, correspondence stating nature of business to be undertaken, a letter of invitation from the business associates in Germany and a recommendation letter from the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce.

Family
Documentation is same as Tourist. Additional requirements are: a covering letter from the applicant explaining the purpose of visit, an invitation/sponsorship letter attested by the competent foreigners office in Federal Republic of Germany (one original and one photocopy) sent by the relatives or friend in Germany. Processing time and fee is same as for Tourist

Transit
Visa is required. One blue form(photocopy allowed) duly filled in and signed by the applicant, one photograph. Applicant for transit visa must have a visa for the country of final destination and if applicable other necessary visa to travel from Federal Republic of Germany. Tavelers who do not intend to leave the transit lounge in a German Airport also require transit visa, unless they have a valid visa for one of the EC countries, Canada or the US

Seamen
Visa is required. Indian seamen travelling on duty must hold Letter of Guarantee from the shipping company with seamen book and passport. A fax message from the shipping company in Germany to the Embassy giving particulars of the seamen, date and port of joining the ship is required. Documentation is the same as for a Tourist visa.

Work
Documents to be submitted are: two white application forms plus two photographs; two copies of the employment contract/training details; original and two copies of qualification and experience certificates and passport for verification. All applications are referred to Germany. A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) may be required at the time of issue of visa, together with two copies of the correct German translation of the PCC. The Max Muller Bhavan in Delhi, Chennai or Bangalore may be approached for the translation.
Note: In cases of emergencies, software engineers may apply for a short-term and a long-term visa simultaneously. However, they cannot apply for a short-term visa after applying for a long-term visa and during the period their long-term visa is being processed, nor can they apply for a long-term visa before the expiry of their short-term visa.

Visa Information

Tourist
The applicant should have passport valid for minimum 6 months. An invitation from Iran is necessary except in some cases for which the Visa Counselor thinks not necessary. Invitation must be received in the Embassy through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran.

Business
a) Validity of passport : Minimum 6 months.
b) Visa is issued to every one
c) Invitation from the Iranian partner through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tehran (Iran)
d) In case of No Invitation/Direct invitation from the Iranian partner, the cases may be referred to Iran/may be issued visa by the Embassy under special cases
For such cases a letter of Chamber of Commerce, where the said company is registered, is necessary, which is to be addressed to the Visa Counsellor/Trade Counsellor explaining fully the purpose of the concerned person travelling to Iran
e) In case of the invitation received from Iran in the Embassy through Iranian Foreign Ministry, one has to fill up one visa application form with two photographs, otherwise two visa application forms with three photographs are required
f) The person, holding ordinary passport, has to pay the visa fee subject to change from time to time. The persons holding Service/Diplomatic passports are exempted from the payment of visa fee
g) Visa is valid for 90 days for entering into Iran and valid for maximum stay for 30 days, which can be extended in Iran subject to the satisfaction of Iranian authorities
h) Visa fee is INR 3275 to be paid in United Bank of India, Bengali Market, New Delhi-110 001

d) Visa is valid for 90 days to travel to Iran with a maximum stay for 7 days, which can be extended in Iran subject to the satisfaction of the Iranian authorities.
e) Visa fee is INR 1405 to be paid in United Bank of India, Bengali Market, New Delhi-110 001.

Work

The applicant should have a passport valid for at least 9 months from the date of application; one visa form (photocopy allowed); one passport-size photograph to be pasted on the form; confirmed onward/ return air ticket; onward visa; hotel confirmation from Italy; photocopy of the income tax clearance for the previous year; medical health insurance to cover period of stay in Schengen territories and proof of funds in form of foreign exchange at a minimum US $150 per day. This must be endorsed on the passport and leave letter from the employer. In case of a family visit, sponsorship letter attested by the Foreign Registration Office of the Italian Police Station (Questura) of the locality of residence of sponsor must be enclosed with visa documentation. Visa is valid for 90 days and is issued for a stay of 30 days. Processing time is one working day. The Embassy reserves the right to request for further documents. Visa fe is as follows:

Business
Documentation is the same as above. Additional requirements are: an introductory letter from the company or firm in India, indicating qualifications of the applicant, purpose of visit, organization to be visited, duration of proposed stay and a letter of invitation from the business associates in Italy to be faxed directly to the Embassy. If the applicant is participating in any Fair in Italy, then evidence of the full payment of the stall advance and balance of the remaining fee is to be submitted. Visa validity, stay, fee and processing time are same as for Tourist.

Transit
Application procedures are the same as for Tourist. The validity of visa is dependent on the air ticket, with a stay of five days per entry.
Visa fee is INR 464

Seamen
Transit visa is required. Indian seamen travelling on duty must hold Letter of Guarantee from the shipping company with seamen book and passport. A fax message from the shipping company in Italy (duly attested by the competent Port Captain) to the Embassy giving particulars of the seamen, date and port of joining the ship is required. Documentation is same as for Transit visa.
Visa fee is INR 464

Student
Basic documents are the same as for a Tourist. Additional requirements are: an acceptance of enrollment by the Italian school or university or institution, stating the duration of the courses, receipt of payment of tuition fees, documentation stating who will provide lodging and boarding and documentation to prove that the applicant is medically insured for the entire duration of stay in Italy. All the above documents will be retained by the Embassy in photocopies and originals will be returned to the applicant.
Visa fee is INR 1392.

1. Visa is required. Nationals of Italy may apply for the visa at the Indian Missions at Rome and Milan.
