+ Cape Town (CPT) is 22km (14 miles) east of the city. Taxi and Buses services are available to the city centre. Airport facilities include duty free shops, bureau de change, restaurant and car hire.
+ Bloemfontein (BFN) is 10km (6 miles) east of the city. Taxi and Bus services are available. Airport facilities include ATM, restaurant, car hire and conference facilities.
+ Durban (DUR) is 16km (10 miles) south of the city.
+ Johannesburg (JNB) is 24km (16 miles) from the city. Airport facilities include Nedbank ATM, conference facilities, information desk, restaurants and pubs, shops, pharmacy, postal service, car hire. Airport shuttle bus is available to the main International Hotels in Port Elizabeth. Taxis are also available.

Visa Information
Tourist/Family
The applicant should have a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended duration of stay; one visa form (photocopy allowed), Two recent passport-size photograph (not older than six months); proof of sufficient funds, travel itinerary and hotel confirmation. In case of family visit, or if the Indian national is invited by a South African family, then the original letter/ invitation and an affidavit should be submitted with the visa application. These documents can be faxed directly to the High Commission in New Delhi or Mumbai from South Africa. Processing time is three working days. Visa is valid for one year maximum and period of stay is given at the time of entry into South Africa. Visa is Gratis.

Business
Documentation is the same as above. Additional requirements are: the original letter of invitation or a fax sent directly to the High Commission from the South African Associates, a covering letter from the Indian Company giving a brief profile, details of the traveller?s position in the company, duration, Purpose of visit etc, a letter of recommendation from the local Chamber of Commerce/ Export Promotion Council should be enclosed.

Transit
Documents required are the same as for Tourist. Additional documentary evidence, such as visa for the next destination and onward confirmed air ticket, is required.

Seamen
Visa is required. Documentation is the same as for Transit visa. In addition, a covering letter from the shipping company indicating the name of the ship, port of docking and the expected date of the seamen joining the ship is required. A maximum stay of 72 hours is permitted. The seamen should be in possession of the ?Seamen Book? and a ?Letter of Guarantee? from the shipping company.

Work
The applications for Work Permit must be supported by the following documents:
Form BI-159 C (Points 5 to 9 to be filled by the employer in South Africa) and BI-159A to be completed; a Detailed motivation from the prospective employer as to why the service of a foreigner is necessary for the vacancy; proof that the vacancy was advertised and the employment agencies were contacted; repatriation guarantee signed by the employer in South Africa, certifying that the applicant will leave the country on the completion of the contract; curriculum vitae from the applicant; proof of the applicant?s qualifications; profile of the applicant i.e. employment records, special technical qualification etc and non refundable processing fee of US$170 (Equivalent in INR?s as per the exchange rate), payable in the form of bank draft favouring ?The South African High Commission, New Delhi?, & INR 100 per page towards mailing charges. Cash deposit for repatriation may be requested in some cases. Processing period would be of 6 to 8 weeks.

Reciprocal
1. Visa is required. South African nationals may apply for the visa at the Indian Missions at Pretoria, Johannesburg or Durban.

Business
The applicant should have a passport valid for at least 4 months from the date of expiry of visa; one visa form (photocopy not allowed); two colour photographs with a white background are essential; a covering letter from the Indian organisation/ individual company, giving details of business and contact addresses of business associates in Saudi Arabia; copy of the visa slip (which is arranged by the sponsor in Saudi Arabia). Visa is valid for 60 days and is issued for a stay up to 15 days which can be extended for two weeks. Processing time is 48 hours.
Visa fee is INR 2800 Riyal 200.

Family
The applicant should have a passport valid for at least 4 months at the time of application; one visa form (photocopy not allowed); two colour photographs with a white background; a copy of ?Aqama? (Residence Permit) and a copy of visa slip (to be arranged by the sponsor). Visa is valid for 60 days. Processing time is 48 hours.
Visa fee is INR 2800 Riyal 200

Transit
Visa is required if the stay is beyond 12 hours. Basic application documentation with a confirmed onward ticket and visa is necessary. Visa is issued for a maximum stay of 72 hours.

Seamen
Visa is required. Indian seamen travelling on duty must hold Letter of Guarantee from the shipping company with seamen book and passport. A fax message from the shipping agent in Saudi Arabia to the embassy giving particulars of the seamen, date and port of joining the ship is required. Documentation is the same as for a Business visa.

Work
The applicant should have passport valid for at least 4 months from the date of expiry of visa; one visa form (photocopy allowed); one passport size photograph; air ticket; "Wakala" (Power of Attorney) in original should come in the name of the applicant or in the name of the Embassy approved travel agency; medical certificate, from the Embassy approved doctor. PPC from the passport office is required for visa in Delhi only. Visa is valid for 90 days and it is issued for a stay of three months. The visa can be extended by the sponsor in Saudi Ababia. Processing time is 48 hours. Visa fee is INR 600.

Climate
