This ancient temple houses the giant Reclining Buddha; at 46-meters long and 15 meters high, an incredible sight! Lunch at the Supatra Riverhouse.

This morning at 08:00 AM you will be picked up from your hotel by your guide and private car and drive North to the Summer Palace at Bang Pa-in. The manicured grounds hold a variety of buildings in different architectural styles. The Chinese Pavilion, donated in the late 19th Century by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce is one of the highlights of the visit. Afterwards, board a long-tailed boat for a scenic 45-minute rivertrip to Wat Phananchoeng in Ayuthaya. This ancient temple hold a giant sitting Buddha statue, while its walls are filled with hundreds of smaller statues. Visit Wat Chai Mongkol, famous for its leaning Chedi and Buddha galleries, before lunch at a riverside restaurant.

In the afternoon visit the Ayuthaya Study Center (closed on Monday and Tuesday) or Wat Ratburana, as well as Wat Sri Sanpet and Wat Phra Mahatat before continuing to Khao Yai National Park. Overnight at Kirimaya Resort - Plantation View Room

Day 04 Khao Yai
This morning a very early start, possibly at daybreak, is recommended. It is the best time to see widlife in Khao Yai, Thailand oldest and covering 2172 sq. km, the second largest National Park in Thailand. Frequently seen are the Pig Tailed Macaque, Deer, Elephants and different Hornbills. Tiger, Gaur and the Asiatic Bear are amongst the variety of mammals that are rarely spotted by the casual visitor. You will also hear the whooping of the gibbons.

Different walking trails crisscross the park. For fit hikers, the eight km long trail from the headquarters to the Haew Suwat waterfall is rewarding. But shorter trails, following flat territory around the Nong Pakchi saltlick, and the Pha Kluay Mai Trail are accessible for the less agile.

Depending on your choice of walk, you wil have lunch at the Head Quarters or at Heaw Suwat. In the dry season it is possible to have a swim at Heaw Suwat, in the rainy season this thundering waterfall is just too dangerous for swimmers. The largest waterfall of Khao Yai is Heaw Narok, and is found close to the Southern entrance.

Note: for those more culturally interested, we can also visit the Khmer-era sacntuaries of Prasart Phimai and Prasart Phanom Wan.

The ride is pleasant and green due to the proximity of the river. Our next stop brings us to a setting reminiscent of the early years of the century. Although a former leper colony, riders will find here a haven of tranquillity in woodland surroundings. Cycling over small country roads you will discover the real rural Thailand. After crossing a bridge we take a scenic route back to Chiang Mai. We make a stop at a Chinese temple well known for is somewhat quirky architecture. Entering the city we meet a busy road but crossing it will be no problem. Our bicycles are part of the solution!
